I'll Show You Mine...

whatsinthebox.jpg

I figured I should show you what's inside the box. And I ate one, so now it's not quite like that. (FYI: Leonidas is on Madison between 51nd and 52nd. At least, the location I went to is...)

I'm also going to show you my backside:

Wrong Side.jpg

See how much nicer it is after a few hours of sewing? Too bad I only got through maybe a third of the ends I have so far. But there are three huge advantages to getting the wrong side done as well.

1: It's easier to manage without all the dangly yarn
2: It'll be something closer to immediate gratification at the end
and
3: The squares actually look better on the front side when the yarn on the back side is neat and clean. I don't quite understand it myself, but I was not the only one to notice this today. (I did the work at KNY.)

I have two more shots of the front, just to show you what's going on, and because I really love showing this off and also because I especially love my camera.

I'm really please with the progress I'm making as far as my intarsia skills are concerned. I'm sure you can see how much better it looks now than it did in the swatch. I just feel like my fingers are starting to really get where each piece of yarn is supposed to be and how much tension is supposed to happen at each join. It's pretty cool.

I'm probably going to go back to Knit NY tomorrow to work on this some more. It's a lot easier there than at my apartment. Largely because they have tables. And maybe some nice people will show up with Cadbury Creme Eggs? (Hint: I'll probably get there after 3:00pm) And because it's fun to watch people be amazed and astonished when they see this:

Mmm! I forgot to tell you. Last night, just before I fell asleep, I renamed the blankie. It is now, henceforth and evermore to be referred to as the Rosetta Blankie. Partly due to the fact that the baby's middle name will be Rose. And partly since the Indy Blankie of Doom theme relates rather well to the Archological Gem that is the Rosetta Stone. And the Rosetta Stone has been plundered and is now, like the babe for whom I am currently knitting, in London. So Rosetta Blankie it is.

Jon,
Your blanket is gorgeous. I'm just glad you're the one knitting it, not me. Congratulations on your creativity and your patience.

Tease! "Showing" us the contents of your "box"!

I do love the leonids tho...

What are you gonna do on the borders to stop 'em from curling?

I'm sure we have those Cadburry egg thingys here...want some? LOL That would mean I would actually have to go to the store. Well, I do need TP so I guess I do have to go to the store. They may get there after easter, tho.

Jon, that's gorgeous. And thanks for the Leonidas location. It's not that far from where I'm working at the moment. (dangerous knowledge) I may not be at BoyzNite tomorrow but if I am I will see if I can find a Cad Creme for ya.

:( Would have loved to see the Rosetta blankie in person and drop off some creme eggs for you, but hubby can't pick up the kid from daycare, so I must go.

Oh. My. God.

I've officially dubbed that the most kick-ass piece of intarsia I've ever come across.

Wow.

My response was close to Colleen's, when I saw that last photo, but mine was less printable. That is absolutely fab. I'd mount it, frame it and put it on the wall over crib. Fortunate Baby middle-name Rose.
Have you looked in Brooklyn for the eggs. Hey, it's a grown-up Easter Egg Hunt.

How perfectly gorgeous. Wow. I can't say anything the others haven't already said, so I'll just say that.

What is KnitNY, may I ask, so I might visit it (if it is visit-able) when I'm in the city next time?

The woman at the next desk has a basket of Cad Eggs up for grabs. I'll see if I can e-mail you some.

As for you Cadbury Cream Egg love. You have a fellow lover of them here! Mmmmm I love the taste of them. Mind you here they can cost between 90c and $1.30!!! But the goodness of them....mmmmmmmm.
