Ten Flights and Four Contries Later

OK, I'm back. I have to say, it was definitely my intention to blog from the Far East, but my computer conspired against me. Well, turns out, apparantly, that it was just Firefox conspiring against me, because I tried blogging on this computer when I got home and couldn't blog in Firefox but as soon as I tried IE, well, here we were. Go figure...

Anyhow, the trip was fantastic! I have something like 12 new stamps in my passport, from Thailand, Cambodia, Japan, The Philippines, and, of course, my "Welcome home" stamp from Newark Airport.

Can I tell you that visiting Angkor Wat is the most incredible experience? Although I guess it was pretty cool to go white-water rafting on the same river where they filmed parts of "Apocalypse Now," and there's something to be said for riding an elephant, too!

I actually got home on Friday evening. And although I knew I was tired when I went to sleep on Friday night, I never expected to sleep until 8:00pm on Saturday evening! I was a bit alarmed by that, but I got up and started knitting again. (I had knit a bit during the trip, mostly in Cambodia, as it turns out, some on the BlackWatch sock I'm working on, and some, of course, on my favorite trip-knitting, the Seed Stitch Scarf, which is at least a couple inches longer than before I left the States.)

Last night, though, was devoted to finishing the ribbing on the front piece of Blue Cable-y Goodness. Tonight, I'll start the pattern, although this could take a while; setting the pattern on this sweater is definitely the hardest part of it. Well, that and the frustration at how slow the damn thing is to finish. But I'm back, I'm working on it, and I'm going to finish it before doing any (major) work on any other projects. Think that February will be enough time? I have a bunch of non-knitting (more work-like stuff) that I have to do, but I do hope for a decent amount of knitting time.

Thanks for all your concern while I was gone. I promise I had a great trip, and once I get the laptop and the desktop linked up, I should manage to find a couple of photos for you.

I loved Angkor Wat too! I also attribute my SE Asian jaunt through Cambodia for my embarassing fondness for the Tomb Raider movie.

enjoying your blog,
Juls
