What Matters is the Blame

So the person who was out sick from work last week is also the intended recipient of the blue cable-y goodness sweater. And of course he decided to start blaming me.

"If my sweater were finished, then I would have been warm and I wouldn't have gotten sick."

I said, "Hey, if you needed a sweater right away, you could have bought one!"

I hope it sounds funny in the blog, as it was mildly amusing in person. OK, maybe it wasn't funny at all.

Anyhow, I didn't knit last night. I came home (almost two hours late due to extra work), checked email, surfed the web a tad, then listened to some music on my new headphones. Classical music, which I followed along in the score so my hands were not free to knit. OK? That's my excuse today. I promise I'll knit something soon. Maybe I'll even finish something one of these days. Hey, BGWA is close to done...

Nice. I'd be tempted to move the sweater down a few notches in priority. But that's just me...

"Maybe I'll finish something..." Yeah, that's how I feel these days, too. But now that the weather is again in the 50s, I say the cable sweater is less a priority anyway.

That's just rude. Especially since you are knitting it out of the kindness of your heart. I agree, you have other priorities.

It's really ok, he was mostly being sarcastic! That's the trouble with the internet; tone never comes across, and I always forget that!

Actually I was being (mostly) sarcastic as well. But my initial reaction was in defense of the knitting tribe--Don't pick on a fellow knitter bub, or you're going to get some of THIS! *Picture me holding sharpened Addi Turbos at the ready*

LOL - I think it's pretty funny. But funnier is knowing someone else has startitis as bad as I do, and I love that you have 4 things on your progress bar that are over halfway done. You'll no doubt finish them in a flurry of super-knitting and shame us all into trying to keep up! :-) Hope your friend is better soon. Perhaps when you finish the sweater he'll get better and you can then take all the credit!

I took it as sarcasm as well when I first read the comment! Nowadays, when I knit or crochet for folks, I never give them a timeframe as to when the item will be done. Saves me a lot of stress, and like most of us artsy people-- it's done when it's done!
