None Yet...

So I've been in England for a couple of days so far. I've found no knitting wool. I found a store that has some crappy looking (and feeling) aran sweaters (only £50ish, so you know they're nothing special).

I did see some great theatre, though. 'Hamlet' and 'King Lear' at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Amazing.

I did some online research hunt for yarn shops in London... they seem like they're mostly smaller departments in some larger stores, but hopefully I'll find some good stuff. But if there are any readers in London who have productive information about yarn buying, please comment!

I must say, there's a part of me that's sad I decided against the Colinette mill trip for this visit, but maybe I'll go the next time I'm over here. I know this won't be the last trip, that's for sure.

I'm sure I'll have more to tell you soon, and photos when I get home. I took some beautiful pictures today and plan to take a bunch more!

When I used to live in London, I bought the majority of yarn at John Lewis. Creations was my LYS--it is in Chiswick as well as Barnes. I would also order the majority of my mom's yarn and carry it over to the US from http://jamiesonsshetland.co.uk/jamiesons/

Jon, When I lived in London a few years the yarn at Peter Jones at Sloan Square was not too bad; anyway worth the trip just to look all the fabric on the ground floor. Don't miss it if you're in the area.

Denver Jon has asked me to direct you to yarn shops in London, but alas! As I don't live there, I don't know any off-hand, except for John Lewis on Oxford Street.....

Anyway, another one of my bb friends (Christina who is cc on the tkga board) does live in London, and I've mailed her to add a comment to your blog if she can. Otherwise, she will e-mail me, and I'll forward the info to Jon.

I am wondering the same thing about finding wool in london... I really want to get some of the Berroco range from the US - specifically Lazer FX, but I have looked online and can't find anywhere that sells it in the UK or anything similar... does anyone have any ideas?

I just came from London October 19, and i also had a very hard time finding yarn. I did find some at the Fashion and Textile Museum on Bersmondy street off the Liverpool Tube. It was a new line from Rowan called R2. Eventually found some yarn at Peter Lewis. Just Rowan and some Noro yarn.I guess i'm used to New york city's large selection.
