A Rude Oberservation

It took a handshake with the Mayor for me to come up with this:

We shake hands with people we don't know (or just know from the news or whatnot), and we use the exact same hand we masturbate with.

Egads.

Ooh!

See, Nathan Lane sometimes actually does interesting sounding stuff. No, I'm not harping about "The Odd Couple."

I just read that he's going to be Off-Broadway this summer in the new Terrence McNally play! You can bet that I was happy to find a ticket for that one! I last saw them together in the wonderful "Love! Valour! Compassion!" years ago at MTC, and I'm a huge McNally fan, so yay yay yay!

In other words, my blog crush continues to infatuate, with his wit and his way with words. Not to mention the soulful eyes in the pic he's got up on that site. Ah, the joys of lust from afar. Like, that there's no pressure!

Took Long Enough!

So I finally got a ticket to see "The Light in the Piazza."

And I also just made a decision which is going to save me $2,000. Yay!

See, when nothing really exciting is going on in your life, then it's not so exciting to blog.

Oh well, at least I have my mysterious blog crush to go visit.

What? I can't link to him, then he'd know!

But I Don't Like Spam

So I just got home from five days away, at the sister's wedding. There were 125 emails in my in-box. I had actually been able to log on and delete around 30-some that were spam on Friday. But today, I had 104 that went straight into the trash.

I think I need better spam-blocking. And for my blog to not send email for the ****ing "trackback pings" which are invariably spam, and simply do not warrant further existence.

For more wedding details, see the "other" blog, which seems to be where I spend more of my time lately anyhow.

A New Blog Crush

Ooh, I found a new (to me) blog tonight, and I have a total crush on the blogmeister involved here. He's cute, he's got great eyes, and he writes insanely interesting things.

Which means, of course, he's probably taken and he'll never notice lil ole me.

Funny

I always think it odd when Weather.com says there's a 30% chance of rain - and it's pouring outside.

In other news, I saw "South Pacific" last night at Carnegie Hall. It was a wonderful evening. Reba's just a fun onstage presence, although I think she'd have benefited from one or two more rehearsals. Lately, I haven't been a big fan of Stokes as an actor, but he's got some serious pipes, you have to admit. He brought the house down on "This Nearly Was Mine."

I think the best part was, perhaps, the orchestra. The overture was glorious, and particulary given the acoustics of the hall and the way that the singers were amplified, the orchestra clearly came out sounding the best. Although Jason Danieley as Cable and Lilias White as Bloody Mary were pretty damn great, too.

In all, it was a lot of fun. And sadly, now I have to get ready to go to work. Bleah!

Stealth Celebrity

I know I never commented before on Joel's book, but the fact that I was browsing a story on Playbill.com and came across an article in which he's mentioned, including that he's going to a very impressive sounding musical theatre workshop, where he's collaborating with a very recent Tony winner, well, that's pretty damn impressive. So, Yay for Faustus!

Man's Leg, Torso Fall Out of Plane in NY

Eek. Well, I guess I'm glad that my big summer trip isn't on that airline...

We Don't Want It

I'm rather pleased that the powers-that-be rejected the Stadium. We don't want it, we don't need it, and can you imagine how annoying the Olympics in New York City would be? There's already not enough hotel rooms as it is, and already way too much traffic. To spend that much money on 16 days of sport is ridiculous no matter where it is, so why the **** would we want to pay for it?

I saw a suggestion somewhere a while ago that the games should just be held in Athens from now on. I think it makes a whole lot of sense to just create an international Olympic site, and always have it there. They can upgrade facilities as needed, but for Pete's sake, why does anyone think it's a good idea to make China spend such an ludicrous amount of money on the Games when the country has so many other things that the money would be better spent on?

And the bottom line is, the state and the city do not need to be subsidizing the Jets. They already have more customers than they can deal with. There's like a wait list to get onto the wait list for season tickets. Why should anyone so successful be given a government hand out? Kudos to Silver for having the guts to say no.

A Question

Isn't it odd that the "Best Musical" didn't win any acting, music or design awards, and that the show which won every single design award, score, orchestrations, and lead actress, then didn't win Best Musical?

I'm just sayin, is all...

Not Often Enough

I keep forgetting to post here. Even when I have brilliant ideas for something to blog about.

Like this idea:

One of my favorite things to imagine up, when I have the opportunity, is a brilliant Drag Name. Not that I'm a drag queen or anything. I've put on a dress a couple of times (most recently for Halloween of 2000, if memory serves), but I just think that Drag Names have a lot of potential for amusement.

One of my favorites which I came up with is Jacqueline Cousteau. Her personal slogan would be "Darling, it's better down where it's wetter, take it from me." Which is nasty but funny and I like it. But we also need drag queens who aren't always stuck wearing sea-foam green.

Back when I used to ride the subway really frequently (and probably only New Yorkers will get this one), I thought Anita Queens would be a really funny drag name. (Does anyone get this? Is anyone even reading it?)

But this weekend, I came up with what may be the funniest yet. She's a Jewish girl from Puerto Rico. Miss Mary Cohn. (You have to say it out loud to get it. If you don't get it at all, let me know in the comments and I'll reveal the "why it's funny, at least in my warped little world" tomorrow.)
