It'd Be Funnier If They Still Had A Gay Governor

New Jersey is adopting an official state vegetable. Only they've chosen a fruit.

Speaking of homos in suits, in case that is your kind of thing, well, there's an interesting website featuring men in (and out of) suits. Mmm!

From the NY Times:
----------
"Botanically it's a fruit, legally it's a vegetable," said Sen. Ellen Karcher, who is co-sponsoring the Senate version of the bill.
----------

Me: Whoa! The conflicts of interest in NJ! Botanically -- meaning scientifically, genetically, and truly, it's a fruit.

Legally -- meaning, what we want to call it because the majority of people feel it should have this label.

Well, there's typical American "objectivity" for you. We can't even call a spade a spade, or in this case a fruit a fruit. Denial is the hallmark of truth, justice, and the American way? (My biting cynicism comes out!)

Oh, and more...

----------
The Jersey tomato's ride through the Legislature began after a group of fourth-graders wrote letters urging lawmakers to adopt a state fruit. The beloved blueberry won out, and it -- not the tomato -- took its place last year as the official state fruit.

There currently is no official state vegetable in the Garden State.
----------

Me: So, because State Fruit has already been taken, this means that the Tomato must be forced to fit the Vegetable paradigm? This is the lamest excuse for logic I have ever heard!

Not that I'm going to go wildly absurd in my logical jumps, but just consider how this mindset affects our educational philosophies, social interactions, and basic nationalistic beliefs!

"Well, we got two things that fit the same category. Can't have that. Why'n't we simply put this one object into th'other category. Then we got two things in two categories. See how much sense that makes!"

Oh, Linnaeus (http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/history/linnaeus.html) help us!!!
