First, it was the hawks on Fifth Avenue. Terrible, ridiculous, senseless.
But increasingly, it's gay rights in crisis. Not just marriage, which 14 states have elected to ban (that's 28%, people), but basis rights, too. It's really rather frightening what Bush&Co. seem to have in mind for us. This article from the Guardian shows a lot of it all too clearly.
I think I need to put together a short list of countries to consider emigrating to...

The book ban is not going to happen regardless of how unpopular gays are -- and the more things like this happen, the more tainted the anti-gay side is, and the more energy builds up to restore or grant new rights. People don't like censorship, especially when they realize how broad the brush is.
Anyway, if we're looking at a gay holocaust, there will be no escape in other countries. Canada will crumble like a cracker if America sets forth on a new path. I'd rather be on this side of the border, thank you.
