So after spending the majority of the day at LaGuardia, I did finally make it to Florida in one piece. Due to thunderstorms in Orlando, our plane didn't make it to New York on time so we were about an hour and a half delayed.
But I have to say that the weather here is perfect, as usual. It's even raining and I don't care one bit. I feel like I can relax in a way that I haven't since it first turned cold in the fall. Like I said yesterday, my body doesn't really do cold weather well.
My parents' condo here in the The Sunshine State is done up in an African theme with lots of giraffes and elephants. I know it sounds questionable, but I love it. And since Jon is on safari in Tanzania, it is entirely appropriate. :)
And I love giraffes. I always have. They are my very favorite jungle creatures. I'd love to say that giraffes are my favorite because they are tall and sort of awkward and quiet, like me. But, truth to tell, I've loved them since before I was tall and awkward and introverted.
As soon as I arrived at my parents' place tonight, I immediately stationed myself in the kitchen and ate everything I could lay my hands on. American Airlines only provided me with 3 small bags or pretzels, two cans of ginger ale, and a cup of water so I was a little hungry.
Also, the concept of a kitchen full of delicious things to eat is such a novel one that I sort of go overboard when I'm visiting the parents. If I'm not careful, I will weigh 300 pounds by the time I return to New York.
During my extended stay at LaGuardia this afternoon, I tried to hook into the wireless internet set-up they have there and was unsuccessful. I had a terrific signal, and everything appeared to be in order, but I was unable to get on-line. Anybody have any ideas? The laptop, and hence the capability, is still reletively new for me and I'm still learning.
