Have you ever watched "Everybody Loves Raymond"? I watched one complete episode without laughing at all. In fact, I found it really boring.
Why does this show exist? I want to know.

Posted by: docks at September 4, 2003 09:50 AMJon, you're killing me!
It took me a very long time to get into the show. I thought it was just another kids show on CBS's version of TGIF, but constant refs in Entertainment Weekly got me to check it out way back when.
I think I gave it two or three full episodes before I got it. Raymond is just one of those shows that hones in on the *really really mean* dysfunction that can go on in families, and works it over and over again. I'm not a big fan of the older brother Robert, so I'd suggest skipping any episode that deals with him. But if it's about Ray's wife and his mother -- comic gold.
The boyfriend is not a big fan of sitcoms, but I managed to win him over to Raymond. Does that tell you anything?

The worst part was they aired it back-to-back with Seinfeld.... which was hilarious. It was an odd duo and I didn't think Raymond was funny at all.
